I'm a senior lecturer in astrophysics specialising in extragalactic surveys of star-forming galaxies. I've written or co-written 100 or so papers so far, with over 5000 citations in all, and co-won the 2004 Daiwa Adrian Prize for Anglo-Japanese scientific collaboration.

I also have a Faculty role in science broadcasting.

I wrote a paper with Ian Smail, who wrote a paper with George Djorgovski, who wrote a paper with Jogesh Babu, who wrote a paper with Paul Erdös, giving me an Erdös number of no more than four (or exactly four assuming this list is currently complete). This is four less than Erwin Schrödinger. There's a lesson in there somewhere but for some reason I don't feel it's in my best interests to point it out.
