I am a researcher working in the Astronomy Discipline of the School of Physical Sciences at the Open University. My research focuses on cool stars and exoplanet detection and characterisation.
My research interests focus on the study of stellar activity, using high resolution spectroscopy. I have used tomographic techniques to obtain some of the first indirect images of spots on G dwarf stars like the Sun, and the least massive M dwarf stars. I have also performed searches for molecules in close orbiting extrasolar planets and implemented the most precise radial velocity searches for planets at the bottom of the main sequence.
In my spare time I enjoy hillwalking, running and cycling. I also dabble in photography and sometimes even manage to play the piano competently.
